No summer bucket list would be complete without a summer cocktail, and we've made a top 5 list of amazing gin cocktails to try this summer. All using gin from our campaign supporter Hepple Spirits, which is made right here in Northumberland and enjoyed anywhere.
 

Capturing the spirit of a county in a bottle as it turns out is a complex task, but the distillers - or even alchemists - at Moorland Spirit are succeeding in exporting the purity of the Northumberland Moors through their much commended (and commanded!) Hepple Gin.

 

Northumberland's producers have long served the rest of the UK, but a growing number of artisans are making their mark not just on the UK, but on the rest of the world. Hepple Gin is one such venture with an expanding repertoire of fans across the globe keen to experience their own taste of Northumberland.

Blackcurrant White Lady

50ml Hepple Gin
25ml Blackcurrant Syrup
20ml fresh lemon juice
5ml egg white 

First, shake without ice to create a good froth with the egg white and then shake with lots of ice to chill.

 

Dry shake to froth, then shake with ice before fine straining into a small chilled cocktail glass.

Hepple Negroni Fragola Spritz

40ml Hepple Gin

15ml Campari

15ml Martini Rosso

15ml Pressed Strawberry Juice

25ml Soda water

Garnish - Strawberries and fresh herbs

 

Stir all the ingredients, except the soda water, on rock ice and pour into an ice-filled highball glass. Then top with a splash of soda water and garnish with strawberries and a sprig of fresh herbs (Tarragon is wonderful).

Bees Knees

25 ml Hepple Gin

25ml Lemon Juice

25ml Honey

Vigorously rattle the ingredients in a cocktail shaker briefly with some ice.

Double strain into a chilled glass.

Double Gold

35ml Hepple Gin

15ml Italicus

10ml Suze

5ml Yellow Chartreuse

50ml Dry English Sparkling Wine

Stir the Hepple Gin over ice with the Italicus, Suze and Yellow Chartreuse. Then strain into a chilled coupe glass. Express the oil from a small twist over lemon over the drink and then top with the sparkling wine. Garnish with an edible flower.

Cosmopolitan Daisy

50ml Hepple Gin

10ml Triple Sec

15ml Raspberry Syrup

15ml Lemon juice

Shake all ingredients on rock ice and strain into a frozen martini glass. Garnish with a fresh raspberry.
