Caribe Coffee

Caribe Coffee was set up in 2018 by couple Wilmer and Ellie Carcamo, of Fairmoor, near Morpeth.

Caribe Coffee was born through a love of quality coffee and a vision to improve the quality of coffee that we drink both in our home and in independent coffee shops. Wilmer was born in Honduras and building on his heritage and family links to coffee farming we set out to create a company that not only sold good quality coffee, but also told the story of how speciality coffees can help farmers.

At first Caribe Coffee was a wholesale retailer but we then moved to direct selling at markets and food fairs. When coronavirus hit,  a large percentage of our business stopped, so we quickly had to adapt the business and move to an online business model. Luckily our many loyal customers followed us online and with the introduction of a local delivery service and click and collect, we have been able to keep the business going and pick up new customers.

Social media has also become crucial for the business as we used the channels to drive more business and our customers shared their recommendations. We now feel customers can trust the brand and business even more, and for us shopping local and supporting local is all about creating a relationship with the customer.

"We hope that customers can play their part by spreading the word about their favourite local retailers with friends and family and continuing to buy local rather than from bigger retailers."
