Lumiere Amble

Meet Diane Dunn of candle and gift shop, Lumiere Amble.

I moved to the Amble area in 2017 and had always loved the Amble Harbour Village and seeing it develop, when I heard there was a pod available I jumped at the chance. I opened the doors to Lumiere Amble on 19th January 2019.

Right from the start I knew that I wanted to source locally made candles and unique gifts, something a little different. I started with a very small budget and my first contact was with the amazing Notes Of Northumberland. Their luxury hand poured soy wax candles are still a firm favourite. I now also stock the wonderful Hamish Candles and Pure Candle Company. All our products are not tested on animals and are vegan friendly. I love our beeswax puffins from Chain Bridge Honey Farm

As well as candles I have sourced some very talented small local businesses to showcase their work.

I love Northumberland and I’m very proud of our amazing small local businesses, of course I couldn’t do all this without the love and support of my husband Phil

Why is it important to shop local?

When you shop locally you are supporting your local economy, your local area. This year has been tough and I’ve noticed so many customers just want to help us recover and grow stronger.

It’s amazing what you can find in a little local shop, that unique gift made here in Northumberland. You will always receive a warm welcome, a smile and local knowledge especially for visitors even if it’s just to ask where the nearest toilets are.

I really do have the best job in the best place with the best customers.
