Jane Hardy

Every colony needs a crazy seal lady!

Meet Jane Hardy, marine mammal medic, environmental volunteer extraordinaire and self-confessed "crazy seal lady!" Northumberland migrant Jane (she grew up in Sheffield) spends her free time volunteering to keep Northumberland's magnificent landscapes tidy through organised beach cleans, and its coastline creatures protected through her work as a marine mammal medic.

Join Jane and her friend, William Shiel of Billy Shiel's Boat Trips, as they venture to the Farne Islands, the rocky outcrop that's home to one of the country's largest grey seal colonies and almost 200,000 nesting seabirds (including 40,000 cute puffins!). Learn about her important work with British Divers Marine Life Rescue and discover her infectious passion for Northumberland's natural environment.

My favourite thing about Northumberland is the wilderness and its sheer beauty. It's just an incredible place.
